Men fight and lose the battle, and the thing that they fought for comes about in spite of their defeat, and when it comes turns out not to be what they meant, and other men have to fight for what they meant under another name. (William Morris - A Dream of John Ball)

UNISON Greater London Regional Council - Nothing to see here

It is disappointing that today's meeting of the UNISON Greater London Regional Council doesn't even have half a quorum. This means that the invited speakers (of whom those present are not permitted to ask questions) are addressing a largely empty hall in the building formerly known as the University of London Union.

It is now eleven years since a meeting other than the Annual General Meeting of the Regional Council attracted a quorum of delegates ‎- and this is not something which troubles the Regional Office or the majority of the Regional Committee.

UNISON in Greater London successfully provides a significant number of secure and relatively well-remunerated jobs, as well as ensuring the payment of expenses for members attending meetings.

Really, it would be churlish to expect more.
